Main Line Thurnby

Digital/Analog

Garret takes water at Thurnby

In the ideal world of MTS, enthusing visitors with their analog engines would normally be relegated to the 'viewing gallery', as we prefer analog engines not to run directly on live digital track, even with the technical facility to do so.
As it happens, folk would normally bring with them a large variety of different manufacturer's products, and as analog is the common feature, it makes sense to run with the majority. If we were running primarily for a viewing audience, then a multi-train digital system would be the serious option. However we prefer to operate a 'hands on' controllable 20v (10 amp capacity) railway. When you have a number of folk (some elderly) moving their stock on and off live track, wheels can sometimes find the wrong rail inviting a short out hazard. This we try to avoid. (oops, sorry, where's your re-set switch.)
At Thurnby our remote's will switch you over the turnouts to an adjacent main line. As previously stated, each circuit is set to a different frequency so your train will loose all power once across. The wiring circuit is designed to create an isolated pocket on the receiving track and once across, further movement is not available until the appropriate line circuit is switched back in.
