Main Line Thurnby

Steam on 45mm gauge track

The picture below shows the popular ACCUCRAFT GARRATT in steam at Thurnby. The generous radius on the curves, which were originally laid for Gauge 3, gives us the opportunity to run these large 1.19 scale engines in an environment which really suits them. The 'three feet from ground' is of great benefit when steaming these weighty engines.
As a matter of interest these superb models are true to the original prototypes, in as much as they have a prodigious hauling capacity.

As previously stated the mixture of scales is prevalent at open days and if your loco runs on 45mm track then bring it and run it. If you have no compatible scale stock with you, we can normally match you up with something that looks fine.

The diminutive ACCUCRAFT 2-4-2T LYN looks good with a variation of wagons although it has to be said that most owners do bring their L & B stuff with them.

There is an increasing amount of steamers out there and we do find that live steam is becoming more and more popular. Manufacturer availability helps of course!
